To Save A Life

Jake Taylor, senior in high school, has everything he could want. Basketball scholarship, popularity, the hottest girl, and "friends" lined up. But then his life takes a drastic turn when his childhood friend who he has ignored for years, pulls out a gun in school and shoots himself. This causes Jake to think about how he could have saved his long lost friend, and takes the advice of a youth pastor to attend youth group and eventually leads him to become a Christian. But God immediately throws him into trials that will shake his faith to the core. It touched me in ways I thought only books could. And it made me think a lot, how even a simple gesture of kindness can make the difference between life and death. And then I looked back at the previous year, and I remember so many opportunities where I could have....i don't know....done SOMETHING. I recommend this movie to EVERYONE of ALL ages. It is fantastic and I really hope you all at least consider watching it. :) It's worth it. I promise.

Birthday!!

OK peeps, its my birthday, and normally I hate birthdays, but this has been amazing!! OK, first I watched all the Bourne Legacy movies this morning (AMAZING!!), then me and my mom went to Red Lobster, where I ate the best shrimp lobster fish dinner of my life. Then we went putt putt golfing and even though my mom is experienced in putt putt, I tied her for both games. :D Anyway, then we went out for slurpies at 7/11 and then came home for another movie. Also, my birthday present was a big bag of chocolate covered pretzels, but I kept making excuses to eat more. :) I ate the whole bag in the first movie. Yikes! And yeah, its been great, the only thing that could be better was if my sisters were gone...but whatever. Oh, and another present was theat I was finally allowed to get a facebook. And its awesome so far....I have like 50 friends now. :)

Caddying - The Real Deal

So I've been so busy lately caddying that I haven't had time to blog. I started full time caddying on Saturday and also did Sunday and Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday are my days off this week. Anyway, to Caddy, I get up at five o clock, make myself an omelet, get into my white jumpsuit, and drag my mom out of bed to drive me twenty minutes south to the Broadmoor Hotel. Yeah, fun right? Anyway, normally I do one loop a day. A loop is 18 holes, 4-5 hours, 4-5 miles, with 50-60 pounds on my back. Monday I did a loop and a half. Pretty much, Monday I was there from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. THAT's LONGER THAN SCHOOL!! Wow, yeah, my only reconciliation is that I've made some very good money in three days. :) Oh, and I found another twelve golf balls for my collection. :) Yeah...OK, I got to go do the dishes...

The Avengers

I saw "The Avengers" directed by Joss Whedon sarring Robert Downy Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo...blah blah blah... Anyway, I thought it had a ton of great action, but little to none plot was involved. I mean, yes, it's cool how Thor and Hulk and Captain America fight against numerous odds t save a city, but there's nothing besides action. And action by itself doesn't make a great movie, but it did have some awesome comedic references and dialogue. I LOVE Iron man now that he's not a snob I am that kind of person that needs many different things like emotions, death, betrayal, romance, and loss to complete a movie. SO yeah, that's my opinion. I know not everyone will agree with that, but I know specifically what I like and do not appreciate in a movie. :) GO see it for yourselves in order to see what I mean. It just doesn't have a ton of movie home quality. "The Avengers" is just another heroes with special powers vs. villains and aliens and its just another Transformers.

The Vow

Oh, in addition to watching Star Trek I: The Motion Picture (Today), yesterday, I watched "The Vow." Along with "Chronicle," The Avengers," and "Battleship" which I will write about later. :) Anyway, "The Vow" is a romantic flick about this guy, Leo, whose wife wakes up from a car crash and remembers her life only up to a point before she met him. Anyway, this devastated husband tries EVERYTHING to try and make her remember, including dating her again to win her love again, but nothing comes back and they eventually face the fact that she's better off with her parents and former fiance that she remembers. But she learns the secret of why she left her old life behind and moved in to the city and married Leo. A horrible secret that her parents hid from her hoping she would forget forever. It is so sad and emotional that I was in tears. And yes, DON"T JUDGE! I am mature enough that I can have an appreciation for many different types of movies....of I'm just a schmuck. :) Either one works. :P Anyway, I recommended it to Jo ("Friends" Page) because she LOVES the Titanic. :) I loved this movie mostly because of the true, unadulterated loyalty and dedication that Leo has towards Paige, his wife. And how he tries and tries and tries until she finally gives him a "push" away. The love portrayed in this movie should be an example to all those people who are to selfish to work through their marriage problems, but just get a divorce. I mean, if you had extenuating circumstances like marital unfaithfulness or violence, then of course divorce is a perfectly reasonable answer. But, oh, I was just in tears. I encourage anyone who is mature to go see it. It had its funny moments and its really heart-touching. So stop calling me a schmuck and go see it. :) Definitely on my favorites list.

PS: The guy Leo, also played "Duke" in G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra

Star Trek I: The Motion Picture

Yea! I just watched the first Star Trek movie! I had never seen any of them before tonight and "Wow," was it great. I mean, some parts took FOREVER because the U.S.S. Enterprise moves 10 mph slower than a turtle across the screen. :) Seriously, they could have cut half an hour off the movie just by moving the ship faster. The acting was that of a middle school play with no emotion, just stoic faces. Yeah, today, this kind of technology is boring and common and the idea normal. To think that this was the biggest science fiction thing people had ever seen back then? Ouch, it would suck to be them. But overall it was a good movie. I loved Spock; he's cool. And it had a great plot. I mean, who can think up a story that involves a space probe/satellite made by humans, that is lost in a black hole and comes back with all the data in the universe 300 years later as a living mechanism that is searching for its creator? Who can think of the name V'Ger because the O, Y, and A, were smudged out from the original name Voyager 6? It's ingenious. I definitely don't put it on my favorites list, but it was worth watching. :)

I received the first 9 Star Trek's in this boxed set. I don't know why....My long lost hated ex-father Albert sent them to me....creepy! :) I decided not to throw them out because I have been wanting to watch these for a long time now. So...Star Trek I: The Motion Picture....*CHECK!

Seussical Party!!

Yippee! I never thought I would be so glad to hear those words, but it means that I can say goodbye to all of my seniro friends who are leaving one last time! And, were going to look at tons of photos and choose which ones we want. OK, so, also, its at the house that we had the last party which was HUGE! Not tall, just TONS of space. AH, the life of luxury...HAHA, jk, its just for a couple of hours, but I'm glad...I'm really happy. I'll add to this post once I get back, time to go! :)

Edit:

Ok, I'm back, wowza that was fun! Fantastic, we watched a movie, talked, shared old jokes, then had a major dance party where Jeff started stripping. He got pretty far, but we stop the song "I'm Sexy and I Know It" blaring on his car radio before anything major was showed. :D Yeah, not much happened, we just hung out and chatted most of the time...oh, and voted on what next years play would be. And we all sifted through the hundreds of photos that they had laid out for us to keep what we wanted. I took a big pile. I hope to turn them into a slide show...once I scan them all. Anyway, I don't know when it will be done, but I'll post it when it is...

Pimsleur Approach - Spanish

So, you know all of those pop up ads like this one...

Well, I'm getting so desperate in Spanish with bad grades and just not understanding it that I finally just spent the twenty bucks for the CD set. Well, I got it today and I just finished listening to the first session. Your suppose to listen to the CD for 30 minutes a day for ten days....I'm on day 1...Fun. Anyway, it was all about one little conversation you would have on a bus. I really hope this does the trick...I suck at Spanish. :) I guess I can tell you guys if it works or not. :P
