Woodchucks

I love the tongue twister/fun saying.............

Q: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?
A: A woodchuck would chuck as much as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

First of all, does anyone know what a woodchuck is? And if so, can a woodchuck chuck wood? Cause if a woodchuck could chuck wood, would it be a wood chucking like a beaver, or would the woodchuck chuck wood in his own chucking way? Would it be a chunky woodchuck? Would woodchucks who chuck be chunky? And finally, how much wood would a woodchuck chuck?

Can anyone make any sense out of this......because I think I'm confusing myself now. :)
