New Computer/ No more Jalapandro

Seeing as how I worked over the summer, all of my muulah went toward this new computer that I'm posting on right now; the Lenovo Z580 - 1 TB, 8 GB RAM, 14 inch screen, purple stainless steel-look, $1,200 dollar laptop that I got for 40% off ($700) with their back-to-school sale. OMG it's amazing. My other laptop from the 1700's have 20x less RAM, and 16x less memory. Yeah, and this has an all new Nvidia video card....awesome, with a 3rd generation Intel7 Processor for those of you who know what that means and can be jealous. :) Here's a Picture from the site...

....accept it has a nice, slight purple tint....I think it looks kind of purple in the pic... Anyway, it works like a charm....I LOVE it! And I think a good percentage of my pride comes from the fact that I worked hard for it and bought it all by myself....Yippee! OK, I might be posting more today so watch out. :) Oh, and by the way, with a new comptuer and all, I made completely new email accounts and connected everything, so my email now for this will be my email and my real name, Alex. No more Jalapandro.....

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

OK, so today, me and "the good sister," Emma, were craved chocolate covered pretzels, but store bought ones are pricey. SO we realized that its just pretzels dipped or covered in melted chocolate and hardened, so we found three different types of chocolate chips in the cabinet, milk chocolate, white chocolate, and butterscotch. The butterscotch were about two years old, but sealed and still good. Then we realized that we didn't have pretzels. Well, it took us about five minutes, but we finally found an old, OLD, OOOOLLDDD bag of Chex Mix in the back of the pantry and the pretzels were only a little stale. SO we melted the chocolate, chucked the Chex Mix pretzels in there, scooped them out with a spoon, and threw them in the freezer on a plate......

Pictures Coming....

Not the best picture, I know, but I think you can see it....Oh! and we put sprinkles on the white ones and they tasted like those yummy animal crackers. :D

First Day of Sophomore Year

SO today was the first day of my tenth grade school year. It was a half day. And afterwards, the student Senate had this AMAZING barbeque with the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had in my life! It was 6 bucks for the meal, and I didn't bring any money. SO I came and hung out with my friends Meg, Reah, Asia, Sarah, Matt, Emily (9), Shannon and Jenny. Then they announced that they had so much food that the already paid people could come back for seconds. SO I had Jenny go up and get a plate for me. :D Its was really good! Then I sat around and chatted with people....blah blah blah....it was very entertaining. Afterward, I played volleyball with Reah, Shannon, and taught Meg volleyball.... It was hysterical! We were laughing the entire time! THen only me and Meg were left, and since she stays there for an extra hour and a hlaf bored, I just stayed and we played volleyball more and were bored. :) My first period class is something that I really enjoy, so that's a great thing....it's called Web Design 1. :) SO I hope it helps me with my blog design, not that it isn't already fabby if I do say so myself....

Boggle

A BIT INAPPROPRIATE FOR LITTLE KIDS!!!

So me and my mom were playing Boggle, the game where you shake the cubes around and see how many words you can make out of the letters...the equivelent of BitWordy, the Facebook App. Anyway, she saw these six letters....

Photo

....she said, "Its Faggot!" XD

The Amazing Spiderman

I watched "The Amazing Spider-man" and I can honestly say its one of the best movies I've ever seen. It was AMAZING!! Andrew Garfield is an AMAZING actor! This Spider-man is completely different from the other ones and not just a remake. I mean, not to be prejudiced or whatever, but I never liked Tobey McGuire as the last Spider-man. Anyway, I absolutely LOVED it and I would recommend it to anyone, anytime, anywhere...except maybe at a funeral. :) But yeah, I loved all of the actors, Gwen was great, the new story was great. And it is definitely going on my favorites. Very Impressed!

Chronicle

So recently I saw the movie Chronicle....actually a while ago, but I haven't posted in weeks. Anyway, I would not recommend it for kids, or adults. Its pretty much just a teen movie. The camera view for the whole time is from the camera in the hands of the main character which is OBNOXIOUS!! The story is good....I guess. I thought it was a bit dark though, darker than I really enjoy. It is awesomely cool though, the fact that they can fly, the telekinesis, and the process in which they learn their powers extensions. I really liked the black dude (main guy) though; I didn't like how Andrew killed him. And its a bit unrealistic, the fact that Andrew's mind breaks (completely snaps) over his home life. Its bad, yes, but there are so many other stories that make his like a children's tale that it seems a bit weak of Andrew....just my opinion. Overall, I think its not worth paying money to watch. But that's for you decide for yourself. I would not recommend this to others.

Taking Apart My Computer...Again

------------------------------- Before Story ---------------------------------
To see the whole thing, let's start several years ago when my family went to visit my dad in Pennsylvania while he was on a short parole. He was staying at his moms house and (needless to say) it was hell being there. The only good thing was that during that time, my CREEPY/CRAZY Grandma funded a trip for our whole family to visit Washington DC for a day. It was fantastic! The bus was great, the monuments were amazing, the National Archives were incredible, and the Space Museum was breath-taking (at that age). The only disappointing part was the walk, the line at the archives, and the fact that we didn't get to visit the Library of Congress. Anyway, we didn't have a camera, but my dad let me take pics and vids on his little phone. Now I had forgotten that completely until four months ago I was digging through my electronics box and found it lying there. Then I remembered him telling me to keep it when we boarded the plane home. So I took the memory card out of the phone and stuck it in a little slot in my computer that said it read memory cards. Well, it was too small and I ended up accidentally pushing it all the way into the computer slot thing...wherever. I meant to take it appart then but got distracted and forgot all about it...

---------------------------------- Now --------------------------------------
So last night, I was bored, it was 11:15 pm, I couldn't go to sleep, and my whole family was snoring. (Yes, literally) So I decided to finally extract it from the computer because I really wanted to see the pictures from DC. So with as little noise as I possibly could, I fetched a screwdriver. The sound was catastrophic. I ended up dropping the screwdriver from four feet above the dryer and it echoed through the house. The dog came in and the cat followed, but thankfully no people. I waited a few minutes before moving and went back to my room. Taking the thing apart was fairly simple...

...but the SD Card reader is wedged under the motherboard, the green plate. So without dislodging the motherboard (or destroying it [too much]) I destroyed the SD slot trying to get the card out.

...for those of you who don't know, that is not the way the SD slot is suppoe to work. I accepted the fact that I could never use it again and kept digging and finally the Memory Card was in sight...

...and I got it! Yea...

...So then the problem was putting the computer back together. I didn't think it would be all that hard, but just to prove me wrong, it gave me some problems. The first of which being the (removed) disc, CD player...

...I broke the showing outside part off while trying to force it into its compartment. It wouldn't fit.so with some extra screws and a snap part, I finally connected the two parts again, but still couldn't get it into the slot. I managed to cram it in there, but I still don't know if it works. Hang on real quick...

(Sticking in the disc closest at hand, a Chessmaster 2000 disc)

The answer is no, my disk drive is no longer being recognized by the computer, I'll have to fix that. I finally got most of the computer back together...

...when I encountered my next problem. A slight deformity with the keyboard...

...That's not the way a keyboard is suppose to look ladies and gentlemen. When I turned it over, I freaked out and frantically searched for a sign of the cause. After 5 minutes I realized that I had put the long screw in the short screw hole and it had pushed the keys up. Yeah, fun. I ended up doing the same thing in another place and now the touchpad keyboard is unresponsive. Then I felt like I was done, everything looked swell. So I plugged it in and turned it on hoping that a flood of power wouldn't explode the demolished SD unit, or the disc drive, or my touchpad, or maybe the battery....pretty much my whole computer. :) Thankfully, nothing exploded and besides not booting up and shutting down every once in a while, it seems to be functioning properly. :D

.....And yes, my desktop picture is my cat in the Spearmint plant. :D

Golf Ball Collection - 76

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in like, two weeks, but they have been very busy weeks between caddying and helping renovate a neighbors garden... You know. But back to the now, remember when my golf ball collection consisted of two measly balls? Well, now I have amassed a army of 76 Golf Balls. Let me say that again...Seventy-Six! HAHA! Yeah, I'm pretty happy. I actually caddied today and found exactly twenty (20) golf balls...so....yeah. :)
So yes, I'm proud...

1st Year Anniversary!!!

Yea!! I made it through my first year of blogging! And, if you look back to June of last year. You'll see that my first post was about fireworks. That's fitting huh? Each year, my blog's birthday is celebrated by shooting rockets into the sky. :) But alas, it is not to be... Too bad the fire has caused so much terror and the rain has yet to come, that there are to be no fireworks in El Paso County. (Insert sad minor chords here) Anyway, today, were having a neighborhood get together at One in the Afternoon....of ALL girls!! Well, there is a newborn 3 month old baby boy but that's about it. Crap, Crud, and Crayola! :) Anyway, my mom got TONS of Coke and a package of XingTea...My FAVORITE!!! Hallelujah! (I can never spell halaylujia; I rely on spell check too much) So I get to hole up in my room fr the rest of the day........yippee

Waldo Canyon Fire

OK, so the real reason I haven't posted in a little bit, is because my computer was packed up in case of evacuation. Wow, last Tuesday was the worst night; we could see the flames over our neighbors rooftops. We were just on this side of the evacuation line. Anyway, once that night had passed, the winds shifted again, for the third time that week, bringing a close to the danger. We stayed packed though for a while just to be safe. In fact, I'm still packed, except for my computer. Moving on, we were going to like, set up a rally to hold posters and such trying to thank the Fire Fighters for all they've done. We still are planning it actually. You know, coordinating with the Sheriff's office is frustrating. :) Here's my (not-complete) poster I am working on.

I feel really proud because I did all of the drawing, outlining, coloring, shading, and I'm working on coloring the rest of the background black. :) Anyway, I think the fire is under control Colorado Springs-wise, but please continue to pray for all those who have lost their homes and those still in the way of the fire.

Caddie Journal - Day 1

Hey, this is an excerpt from my caddie Journal from my first day on June 9th. Its pretty comical, so I decided to let you guys read it. I had to star out the player last name because...well...read on. :) Enjoy!

Saturday, June 9, 2012 – Day 1

5:30 am. – I am on my way to my first day of caddying for real, not training, and the first little tidbits of nervousness hit me in the form of a level 10 migraine and the beginnings of fatal chronic stomach ache. I feel like I’m heading off to my death. I have no idea what this day may bring and I am making myself sick worrying about who I will get, if they’re friendly or not, if they walk fast, if they are going to make me search every bush on the Broadmoor Hotel Golf Course for lost balls, how hot it will be, where the water fountains are, whether or not I’ll even be picked today, how many other caddies will be there, if I would be in a group with other caddies, what if I freeze up and not remember what to do, if I hand the player the wrong club, what if I won’t be able to read the green, how I would be able to choke down my mom’s monstrous omelet in time, how heavy the bag will be, will my hair be in my way the entire time, what if the other caddies are mean, and most importantly when, not if, but when will I collapse?

7:00 am. – I am in the morning line up with a bunch of other caddies with most of my prior butterflies gone while talking to the next caddy in line in hushed tones. Bob Matte, our caddiemaster, approaches a golfer, talks for a second, then calls me over and introduces me to Dale *****. Yeah, what a name right? He’s like 6’7”, thin, older, short straight gray hair, and overall seems like a nice person. Anyway, I’m introduced to three other golfers in the group, two of whom are taking a cart, and one who is also walking with a caddie. The other man walking, with a first name of Chester and a last name that starts with G, picks his caddie, a kid about my age and size named Noah, and they all head over to the practice green to warm-up putt. With sheer terror I tentatively lift his bag putting to test the its weight. I am pleasantly surprised to find that it doesn’t weigh as much as I though and suddenly, I gained confidence that I might not collapse while on the course. It only weighs about thirty to forty pounds, maybe a little more. Anyway, after loading up with tees, ball markers, score cards, pin placements, distance booklets, wet towels, water bottles, and a couple of apples (they’re free to players and caddies), Noah and I set out to the first tee box on the West Course with our new masters for the next 4 to 5 hours. Its my first day, so Mr. Matte said he would hook me up with someone who didn’t need a lot of assistance so I could learn everything I needed, but nevertheless, I hope it turns out all right.

11:30 am. – Wow! That wasn’t so bad. I mean, I’m dead tired now, but I made it through, and at this point, that is a thing to celebrate. Turns out Mr. ***** was really nice and so were the others. He cracked a few jokes and talked with me almost the whole time, and gave me tips as to how to do things or how to unzip the cover to his golf clubs easier…yeah, talk about learning on the job. I can definitely say that caddie training did almost nothing for me except teach me some rules and stuff. But in training, we only went about 8-10 holes with light, almost empty bags. Shock there. They needed to have us carry 60 pound things to train our bodies because I did almost die from exhaustion out on the course. My legs are killing me! But it also turns out that Mr. ***** obviously didn’t golf as a profession. He hit 24 bunkers (a.k.a. sandtraps or sandpits) in the entire eighteen holes…maybe it just wasn’t his day. In fact, he hit three of the bunkers consecutively on the same hole. Unfortunately for me, caddies have to rake the sandtraps back to a nice smooth surface. And the entire hole was majorly uphill. So he drove the ball into the middle of the first bunker and hit it into the middle of the next bunker with a sand wedge. I made the mistake of saying “Right, into the next sandtrap.” Eek! Not something I should of said, and he reprimand me for it. Anyway, I, groaning on the inside, raked the first bunker and ran up to the next bunker with the rake and golf bag just in time to see him hit the ball right into the middle of the next sandtrap on the OPPOSITE side of the fairway! How in the world do you do that? Anyway, while cleaning and switching out his sand wedge for his 54˚ wedge (I think) with one hand, I raked the second bunker with the other, He went on up ahead leaving me to rake and hit the ball onto the green. I ran up to him and handed him his putter while wiping his 54 and shoving it into the bag while raking the sandtrap and chaotically motioning for Noah to pull the flag (something caddies have to do). I finally arrived at the green out of breath in time to clean his ball, place the marker, and take the flag from Noah and tend it for my player. You may have noticed that I underlined the words middle and ran. The middle of the sandtrap means that I have a TON of raking to do, and “ran” means that I ran from each bunker to the next with a golf bag on my bag uphill to get to Mr. ***** on time. Yeah, that hole wasn’t my favorite. J Anyway, I learned that he has a couple grandchildren, he lived in Texas…blah blah blah, I can’t remember half of it because I’m so dang tired. Anyway, I surprised him when he asked about my dad. The look on his face was priceless! Moving away from Mr. *****, overall, I got 30 bucks for working out and learning etiquette, and I realized that I really like the West Course, however uphill it may be.

To Save A Life

Jake Taylor, senior in high school, has everything he could want. Basketball scholarship, popularity, the hottest girl, and "friends" lined up. But then his life takes a drastic turn when his childhood friend who he has ignored for years, pulls out a gun in school and shoots himself. This causes Jake to think about how he could have saved his long lost friend, and takes the advice of a youth pastor to attend youth group and eventually leads him to become a Christian. But God immediately throws him into trials that will shake his faith to the core. It touched me in ways I thought only books could. And it made me think a lot, how even a simple gesture of kindness can make the difference between life and death. And then I looked back at the previous year, and I remember so many opportunities where I could have....i don't know....done SOMETHING. I recommend this movie to EVERYONE of ALL ages. It is fantastic and I really hope you all at least consider watching it. :) It's worth it. I promise.
